Failure 2: Electric boogaloo
So last month did not work out, and neither did this month. I had good hope to finish something and I did. ~Kinda~. I created a spy-thriller adventure, however, it is not in a state where I want to publish it. It’s rough, it’s missing a lot of extra content, polish and uh good adventure design. At the moment it just consists of a few character hooks, a plot hook and a few locations. It’s not a coherent story, nor a well-fleshed out toolbox.
Writing a good mystery is difficult, and commiting one to PDF with a good layout and structure that makes sense feels like a task that should take more than a month. I’ve decided that for now I will stick to dungeons, so that this does not happen again. The most important goal of this blog and my project is that I keep creating and finishing things. If I get stuck because of scope or perceived like of quality I simply have to tune down the scope instead of beating myself up that I did not work hard enough or missed a deadline.
So for coming month I am again making a dungeon, and finishing it. Once I have finished 3 dungeons I will again make an attempt at a city adventure. But one that is scoped down to a few set locations. Growing my adventures as my experience does.
I am currently 2-2, I had a great start and need to pick back up where I left off!
I also talked about focusing on games again, I feel like I can do both. Finish an adventure, while working on a game. I just won’t publish both in the same month.
